Pontoon Tie Up

Having a great weekend on your friend's pontoon can really make waves. You know what I'm talking about, the thought of BUYING A PONTOON! These thoughts don't go away easily, in fact, they continue to build. The kind of thoughts that take you away from work while at your desk, painting the perfect picture of you and your family out on the crystal clear water, drink in hand, and watching the afternoon melt away.

If you are an avid pontoon enthusiast, pontoon tie ups are part of the lifestyle. Setting out for an afternoon cruise only to be waved over by a group of friends that are tied up. Conversations start, drinks are passed around, and before you know it the thought of UPGRADING your pontoon starts to build because a friend of yours buddy who just moved on the lake or in the area bought a NEW Pontoon.

Every idea of upgrading or purchasing your first pontoon starts with being on the water and most likely being tied up with other friends. Pontoon Tie Ups are the essence of pontooning and connect us to the boating community right on the lake.  It's getting a little deep, but please stick with me.

Please take a second to think about your last tie up. Some of you may have just realized where your first thought was that led to buying a pontoon at the boat show. My last tie up was with my family at the sandbar. It stands out because we didn't invite anyone because we have kids (schedules). We threw anchor at the sandbar and ended up meeting another family. I had not seen them at the sandbar before, but I noticed his pontoon was new. It was a triple pontoon with dual rear lounges and a midship captains chair for his wife.

This family was having the time of their life and he had 4 kids that were all about 6-12 years old. They had another couple on board as well and a Big Mable Tube was hooked up to the ski tow bar. We started talking about pontoon boats as we all do. I commented how I liked his pontoon floor plan and how it works better than I would have thought given his family size. He mentioned how he and his wife used to have a boat before they had kids and always knew they wanted to get back into it.   He'd never thought of owning a pontoon, but some friends own a pontoon and invited them out on it last season.  He loved the lake lifestyle features a pontoon provides - more friends, more family time.

My son who was napping started crying and conversation ended, but not my idea of upgrading my pontoon.
